Right from the start everyone is born with a clean slate. Some choose to keep that clean slate going, while some choose otherwise. In this world there are people who do good and serve the people around them with loyalty and honor. There are also people who are good to start but then slowly turn into an evil monster themselves. It's inevitable, change will always happen. But it's something people have control over. Just because humans get promoted to a higher ranking some seem to feel more powerful, and some let that power take over their lives. Macbeth a young and very respected warrior hero is pressured into doing things he isn't fond of. His wife Lady Macbeth wanted him to kill the king Duncan so that he could step in and be king. As time went on things change and intentions shifted. It starts off with Macbeth being forced into murder by his wife who is the evil one and who pressured Macbeth in the first place, but as the story continues the changed Macbeth emerges and causes pure evil within the kingdom on his own terms. Macbeth by Willam Shakespeare shows us that almost always the strive for power can turn even the most innocent people into corrupt ones.
Power can be a uncontrollable drug, it can make you do some of the wildest things, and although we know it's wrong, the light at the end of the tunnel being all the power in the world can make the good seem bad. "Is there enough water in the oceans to wash my hands of this blood? No! More Likely my hands will stain the vast green seas blood-red."(2.2.73) At this time Duncan was king and his heir was his son. But, Macbeth's wife pressured and mocked Macbeth about not being capable of any manly tasks and held Macbeth accountable to being a coward. Macbeth was seen as a girl and someone who was scared of such evil, and so Macbeth tried to prove himself to his wife by killing Duncan. Macbeth was noble and couldn't even kill a bug. Once the king was out of the picture and Macbeth became king he got away with murder he started to feel pure power. "See there – look! There! Now what do you say? [to the ghost] Why, what do I care? If you can nod, speak too! If graves and tombs will send back those we bury, we'd better feed our corpses to the vultures."(3.4.117) This comes right after Macbeth murders Banquo his best friend on his own terms – although inside he feels the guilt and knows what he did was wrong. Macbeth still has some human within himself but, the glimpse of power numbs his senses and makes him start to change into a corrupt and evil person. When he attempted to prove himself worthy to his wife that feeling of power slowly turned his morality. Power can change a person from good to bad.
Once a glimpse of something great is revealed, the weak stray from the path of innocence and join the path of the corrupt and evil, because the weak have so much power it can get uncontrollable. "If you are lying, you'll hang alive on the next tree till you die of hunger!"(5.5.193) Evil at it's purest form took over Macbeth's body and made him even more evil than his wife. Macbeth was the Hitler of the kingdom. If someone threatened him or he didn't like someone execution was the first thing that was ordered. Macbeth was ruthless, hanging people from trees and sending murders after innocent people. Once power was given to Macbeth he forever changed. Killing became an everyday thing and lives were taken as a joke. To take a life all it took was a few words, it was as easy so smashing an ant. Before he was king Macbeth couldn't even look at a dead body. Then after the drug power came into play, everything changed. "[Macduff enters, with Macbeth's head on a pole]"(5.7.203) Sometimes the weak can't control the power that is given to them. Macbeth couldn't control his powers that he gained and in doing so got himself killed. From good and innocent Macbeth became wicked and cruel.
You will always have a choice in what you do. Some keep there good streak going while some crash and burn. Macbeth crashed and burned the moment power was introduced and put right in front of him. William Shakespeare shows us that almost always the road of power leads from innocence to corruptness. Macbeth lost his humanity as the story went on and changed from the innocent human who couldn't even look at a dead body, to someone who caused dead bodies.

MacBeth Questions
- He is a ruthless tyrant and is numb to the things he does. Macbeth also feels threatened to lose his power so he decides to kill his enemy’s only family.
- To show their view on Macduff, and how they saw him as a traitor and a terrible person. He didn’t say goodbye when her left and left them all by themselves which ultimately got them killed.
- Malcom confronts Macduff about leaving his family vulnerable and puts him on the spot for betraying them.
- A messenger relays the message to Macduff, Macduff’s reaction is not very surprised and the news didn’t seem to bother him.
- Yes, I never saw foresaw her as being the one to spill all the information, I always thought Macbeth would be the one to slip up. But in the end her condition ended up getting her in trouble.
- In the end I think Macbeth is the one who got himself killed. He didn’t have to listen to hid wife and kill those people. Nor did he have to kill all those people on his own terms. After being forced into killing Duncan Macbeth does all the killings unpressured and isn’t influenced by his wife, which is why he got himself killed.
- I think shaespeare's opinon on Macbeth and his wife is that they are both evil and cruel human beings. They kill the king of their kingdom and then Macbeth takes things into his own hands and kills his bestfriend, another kings only family, and then in the end gets himself killed, along with his wife being killed also.
- Macbeth receives the news about his wife from Seton. When he finds out his reaction is very nonchalant. He said that he knew it would come one day and didn't show any sympathy for there, the one woman that he was in love with before he committed murders and changed who he was.
- Macduff reveals Macbeth's doom by telling him that his words won't do the talking but instead his sword will. He confronts Macbeth about the murders he committed to his family and how he would be forever cursed and would pay the ultimate price for what he had did.
- The significance of Malcom ascending to the throne was because the witches had foresaw it. And they foresaw that Macbeth would die and that someone would take the throne.

Act II quiz
Act II quiz:
1. In your opinion, is Lady Macbeth a cold-blooded murderer? Why or why not?
Yes, in my opinion she is a cruel and evil cold-blooded murderer. When MacBeth was having a hard time killing the king Duncan Lady MacBeth said that she would have just done it herself. She even told MacBeth that all it takes is a little bit of water to wash away the blood from the murder. When the king had been murdered Macbeth called it a dreadful sight and his wife Lady macBeth said that it being a dreadful sight was just stupid.
2. Lady Macbeth has her own antics throughout the play. Why does Lady Macbeth faint in Act II? Does it serve its purpose? Explain.
She faints in Act II because she tries to portray that the death of the king was a devastating and not foresaw death. Also, to sell the idea that she had nothing to do with the murder itself. Lady MacBeth fainting was just all part of her act and performance, all in an effort to get power.
3. How does Macbeth's attitude toward Duncan change after the murder?
After the murder he respects Duncan more and feels deeply sorry for the events that took place. He is still in shock that he committed such a crime as killing the king. He feels like his hands have been tainted and he now is filled with a burden of guilt and deep condolences. He can't even go back to the scene and look at the mess he has made. He also started to hear sounds form nowhere, which might've been his thoughts running through his head while he murdered the king himself.
4. If so pressuring on Macbeth, why didn't Lady Macbeth kill the king instead of Macbeth?
Lady MacBeth was trying to get MacBeth to become less soft and to have his white as snow heart to become more like hers. She wanted him to prove himself of not being a coward and a little girl.
5. Now that Macbeth has killed the king, do you think he must do anything else to reign as king? Explain your answer.
No, I think that the kingdom in desperate times will make MacBeth their new king without a second thought. I think that if he keeps his cool and doesn't give himself away then he will become king without to much trouble, because he would have been close to the kings heir later.
Part II

"Idek's nerves were on edge. He was restraining himself with great difficulty. Suddelty, his frenzy broke out. The victim was my father. You lazy devil! Idk began to yell. Do you call that work? And he began to beat him with an iron bar."
Being in a concentration camp and being forced to do work with little sleep, food, water, and freedom puts people into a crazy stage of mind. Leading up to people like Idek to get angry and explode with no reason. For most people their humane minds escaped them and often led to outbreaks of uncontrollable rages.
"Poor hero, committing suicide for a ration of soup!"
The blocks were on a lockdown because of approaching bombers. But by the cauldrons there was soup, two hot half full pots. Since you weren't fed very much in the concentration camps, many went delirious, by risking their lives for a sip of something so little as soup.
"Long live liberty! A curse upon Germany! A curse! A cur–the executioners had completed their task"
Not only did Elizier witness this but all the prisoners did. The man who was executed was the man who stole soup during the alert. Showing the extent that people in the camps went to for food. Even it meant death in this case.

Critical Stance
a) Dehumanization - deprive of positive human qualities
b) The way the prisoners have been acting has been almost animal like. They can't control themselves. Some attack other prisoners, while some do anything to get a sip of soup. All of this due to the dehumanization process that the prisoners are forced to go through daily.
c) Elizier's behavior has changed from when he was at home until now. He has grown up, and had his faith with God tested in drastic ways. He has also witnessed innocent prisoners being executed in front of everyone.

Dialectical Journals - Night
"There are eighty of you in this wagon, added the German officer. If anyone is missing, you'll be all shot like dogs. . . ."
When the Germans took the Jews they used many wagons to transport them to the camps. In this wagon there are eighty Jews, and this is only one of the many wagons used. When the officer said if you are missing then you'll all be shot like dogs it showed just how little the Jews lives mattered to the Germans. They would shoot all of them like nothing, and probably just repeat the process again and again.
"The fire! The furnace! Look, over there! . . ."
When Madame Schächter said this multiple times it showed just how paranoid and horrified the Jews were. Her son was holding on tightly to his mom and didn't let go. The fire she was talking about didn't exist when she was shouting out "The fire! The furnace!" but as the Jews got closer to the camp they smelt burning flesh and saw exactly what Madame Schächter was talking about. It was a huge chimney its fire shooting out of it. This was where they are burning the Jews.
"Men to the left! Women to the right!"
When Elizier heard this he knew that he would be separated from his mother and sister. He went to the left with his dad and other young men. At this time he knew that this was the last time that he would ever see his mom and sister again. The right was where women and young children went, while the men went to the left because they would be working and doing the labor intensive work. For many families this was the goodbye forever.
"You're in a concentration camp. At Auschwitz. . . ."
When the Jews were placed in the camps many didn't know what they were doing in the barb wire enclosed facilities. But when those very words were spoken it was like getting punched right in the face. Auschwitz was one of the worst camps that the Germans put Jews into. It was where millions died from getting shot, inhaling gas, starving, and other inhumane acts. Most people who entered Auschwitz never walked through those gates again.
"Work is liberty!"
If the Jews that were placed inside the concentration camps refused to work or slacked off the punishment would be death. Immediately. If they ever wanted to be set free they needed to work. The work they were forced to do wasn't easy. It involved back breaking labor intensive jobs. Such as mining, digging, moving heavy objects, cleaning out the dead carcasses of your fellow friends and so much more cruel jobs.

Critical Stances - Night
Giving up Possessions
+ When the Jews were forced to give up their possessions it allowed them the only worry about their family members and themselves. Instead of forcing them to focus on keeping all their possessions safe.
- It stripped each Jew of their only remembrance of life before the Germans attacked. To some it was their identity and it was taken from them.
Wearing the Star
+ It showed Jews who there allies were. Who they could trust and stick with. It also allowed the Germans to distinguish the Jews from other races.
- Placed a label on all Jews, and although it didn't hurt them it showed others that they were different. It's like having all colored people wear a bright orange shirt, just so you can spot them out of the crowd. It wasn't right.
Moving Into the Ghettos
+ It allowed all of the Jews and their families to be with each other. They were given food and water and were with the people they loved.
- It forced Jews to leave their houses and belongings behind. What they could fit into a bag was what they could take.
Being Deported to Concentration Camps
+ Made it easier for Germans to kill the Jews. The Jews could be put to work and it wouldn't cost them a penny. Jews had no where to go, since the camps were surrounded by guards and barb wire.
- Being in the camp was nothing but horror and cruelty. The had to witness their own race being killed by the hundreds. Life was hard and horrifying. You needed to work or you would be simply shot on the spot.
Riding in the Train
+ You knew that everyone was safe because they were right next to you. It wasn't only you in the train, you were with the people of your own race and surrounding community.
- The train moved and you didn't know what was going on, where you were being taken, if you would be getting out alive, or what the Germans were planning.

Auschwitz Concentration Camp
Cruelty would be understatement when it comes to describing genocide such as the Auschwitz concentration camp. "Historians and analysts estimate the number of people murdered at Auschwitz somewhere between 2.1 million to 4 million, of whom the vast majority were Jews." The sign that stood above the entrance of Auschwitz read "Arbeit Macht Frei" which in english means "Work makes one free." Jews were rounded up and shoved in concentration camps where they were forced into labor intensive lives. "The majority of prisoners held at Auschwitz were killed in the various gas chambers though many died from starvation, forced labor, disease, shooting squads, and heinous medical experiments." There were multiple ways in which the Nazis slowly killed off jews, the most common being the gas chambers. The gas chambers could murder around 6000 innocent people a day. Till today the Auschwitz concentration camp is commonly referred to as one of the worst events of inhumanity in history.
Auschwitz prisoners not only had to witness their loved ones perish, but also everyone around them. "Most women, children, older men, and those that looked unfit or unhealthy were sent to the left; while most young men and others that looked strong enough to do hard labor were sent to the right." The prisoners in the left line were killed immediately in the gas chambers, where as the stronger men in the right line were immediately put to work. The lines split families and left them with only brief horrific memories of their loved ones. "Within their first week at Auschwitz, most new prisoners had discovered the fate of their loved ones that had been sent to the left." After being tattooed with a number and put to work, even the strongest men were broken and easily killed. Prisoners were forced to clean up the dead bodies of their fellow prisoners, only to follow their same fate in a short amount of time.

Allusion Poem Draft
It's hard to be true-blue,
When lying seems so you
Flowing like a waterfall,
Pushing through it all
Physically growing with each one,
Concealing from none
Out in open sight,
Not quite looking right
A lie keeps growing,
Until it stops flowing
It seems like the best,
Until you grow a nest
Knowing the difference between right and wrong,
So it doesn't grow so long
Exploring the open world,
While everything is whirled
But your conscience is there,
To help keep everything bare
Assisting you down the right track,
Covering your back
Fixing all that's been lost,
And paying the cost
Helped by society,
To ease the anxiety
It's difficult,
But its critical
Blessed by the woman in the blue dress,
To grant a wish and stop this mess
With a wave of a wand,
Things shrunk back to being fond
Lessons were learned,
Times were turned
Wishes were granted,
Pleads were chanted
Smiles were shown,
People grown
Lies were dammed,
Truths were crammed
All to make a better boy,
One that was more than a toy

Poem with Allusion
“Doctor Faustus” by Marlowe’s
“Learnèd Faustus, to find the secrets of astronomy
Graven in the book of Jove’s high firmament,
Did mount him up to scale Olympus’ top,
Where, sitting in a chariot burning bright,
Drawn by the strength of yokèd dragons’ necks,
He views the clouds, the planets, and the stars.”
In this poem excerpt Marlowe alludes "olympus' top" to Greek mythologies "Mount Olympus." where is home to the greek gods. Its also the highest mountain in Greece, which is why Marlowe related it to finding the secrets of astronomy there. He also alluded the burning chariot to Apollo the Greek god of the sun. He does this by saying "He views the clouds, the planets, and the stars." because the sun is far away from the planets that it can see everything like the clouds, the planets itself and the stars around them.
