'Of Mice and Men' is a book about two workers who migrate in California in search of jobs. This takes takes place during the Great Depression in the 1930's, which relates to the real world and what had happended during the time. During the Great Depression people were desperate for any job they could find and this is exactly how Lennie and George were. They were migrant workers who moved form farm to farm in search of new jobs, and even though they found good ones they always lost it because of Lennie. They would loose jobs because Lennie who was very curious yet uncontrollable kept messing up their job. For example, when they were working in Weed, Lennie spotted a nice red dress and out of curiosity grabbed it and held on to it, causing the women wearing it to freak out and get people to chase the two fellas out of the town. Leading up to the conclusion that Lennie suffered form mental retardation. Although they don't directly say it in the book by reading it you get the idea that Lennie a big strong guy has mental retardation. These past events in the world connect and make up the book 'Of Mice and Men'.
Deep within George he is actually a very generous guy. He takes care of Lennie even though Lennie is extremely hard to contain. "Lennie for God's sakes don't drink so much." This shows that even though Lennie is not very responsive when told to do something George still constantly looks after him. George took this responsibility on when Lennie's aunty died and no one was there to take care of him, and ever since he has been taking care of Lennie along with Lennie's case of mental retardation. George makes sure that he eats, doesn't get lost, refreshes his memory and lives his life the way he wants. "Then we'll heat the beans and have supper." This shows the true personality of George.
George in the book 'Of Mice and Men' acts a certain way because of the scenarios that he faces daily. The problems he faces everyday consist of dealing with Lennie, Lennie acts like a kid that can't control his emotions or body. So George has to stand his ground and tell Lennie off so Lennie will listen and not hurt any one or anything. Which could possibly, ultimately lead to the death of both of them. George doesn't act this way because of choice, but because of events that shaped him into the person that he is today. If Lennie wasn't there to bug George or make him fail George would be successful, but George as a kind hearted friend sticks with Lennie and carries him through the hard times of the Great Depression.

Migrant Workers
Kylan Tomita
Kainoa Ferguson
The life of a Migrant worker: moving from place to place to find work on farms in poor working conditions." Mexican and Mexican American workers often earned more in the U.S. than they could in Mexico's civil war economy, although California farmers payed Mexican and Mexican American workers significantly less than whit american workers." The higher pay in the United States attracted migrant workers from Mexico because they were desperate for work and pay. Due to the increase of Mexican migrant workers, 3/4 of California's 200,000 farm workers were foreign." As this rapid shift of Mexico's working population occurred the first labor agreement between the United States and Mexico was formed." This created a more secure immigration system because workers would have to get an "Okay" from their government before immigration. An "Okay" would only be given if U.S. farm owners provided a legal contract for all Mexican workers which guaranteed wages and work schedules. Because, migrant workers from Mexico were desperate for work, they migrated to the U.S.
The influx of migrant workers caused a disagreement between white Americans and Mexican Americans. "As the great depression took a toll on California's economy during the 1930s, however, Mexicans and Mexican Americans became targets for discrimination and removal." Migrants workers took up most of the farm jobs that White Americans claimed was theirs. They were so enraged that they began to discriminate against the Mexicans. "White government officials claimed that Mexican immigrants made up the majority of the California unemployed." But in reality a new supply of white refugees desperate for jobs flooding California from the midwest making up the majority of the unemployed. Which made the Mexican Americans made and fought for their rights. In all this created a big problem and leaded to the result of border rules.

A Coney Island Life Final
Poem Essay
Life is a valuable gift that can't be replaced. It can either be spent wisely or it can be spent wastefully. Life's about making choices and decisions that can later on affect you. Ever since you were a kid, you were constantly making decisions, whether to do this or that. "A Coney Island Life" by James L. Weil is about life and it’s special messages, he compares his life to an amusement park called Coney Island. He also, writes about how life is like a rollercoaster, with it’s ups and downs, and how he spent his life when he was younger. In the poem he teaches us that a good life is only possible with sacrifices, because life only gives you enough time for the important things.
Priority means putting what's important first. "How many more times round I have to catch that brass-ring sun before the game is up." The author writes this to let others know that if you wait too long or put unimportant tasks first, doors close before you. Doors that would have held dreams or lifetime goals. It’s always better to try and fail than to never have tried at all. "Seen my helium hopes break skyward without me." No one likes to see their hopes drift away, but when the right steps are taken it is possible to accomplish goals. Goals that may have seemed nearly impossible before, may now seem like their in arms reach. Remember that dreams are a balloon, they either can be held on tightly to, our they could be let go, only to disappear from view. Giving a little more effort when it comes down to important tasks in life can be the make or break moment that keeps you afloat and ready for another day in your life.
In order to fit life's tasks into a lifetime, sacrifices need to be made. "Now arms filed with dolls I threw so much for." Your arms can only hold so much, so in order to keep everything that you need to hold/ accomplish from falling, sacrifices are key. Should you try for a bigger doll, or should you be contempt with what you have and not overcrowd yourself. Is an example of sacrifices that need to be made daily. "I take perhaps my last ride on this planet-carousel." It's nearly impossible to do everything that this world offers in one lifetime. You could die tomorrow or in the next minute, and so, sacrifice unnecessary things and accomplish what needs to be done now before it's too late. This doesn't mean staying up super late just to do things that you always wanted to do, it means not wasting valuable time on worthless tasks but instead using time for the important things in life.
In conclusion, spend your time in this lifetime wisely. Don't waste time on useless things like catching up on the latest tv show, but use that time to fulfill dreams that you may have. Bottom line, is that you only live on this planet once so you might as well spend your life chasing the important things, and not the other way around. Life shouldn’t be spent how James L. Weil described his as, rough and always trying to catch up to where he should have been in the first place. But instead, always holding on to your goals and not just letting them drift away like balloons, because you only live life once so you might as well spend it how you want, not how others do. Remember if life every gets confusing think back to "A Coney Island Life" and how it talks about making sacrifices and focusing on the important tasks in life. Just be sure to live a life without regrets because as of right now you can't go back in time, but who knows maybe it’s someones goal to build one...

Metaphoric Poem Final
Poem
More unique than the average,
But pricier than most,
Simple and professional,
Compatible with others,
While still standing out and being one of a kind
Perservering even through harsh conditions,
Having a complex inner workings,
Being the one to be put to the challange,
But still coming out trying and fighting
Right beside you when you need it,
All around yet small enough to contain,
But specializing in certain areas better than others,
Versatile and accessorized,
Living up to it’s name
Being put in many diverse situations,
But still finidng the beauty of the it,
Looking at things through different perspectives,
Just to find that one special moment
Allowing others to look at your contents,
Freely and open ended,
Taking safety first,
With a rock hard structure,
And transparent outer layer
Having the ability to connect with 3rd parties,
Quicker than a blink of the eye,
Reliable when there is a lot of pressure,
Built for any situation that comes my way,
I am a gopro hero 4 and unlike any other
